Given its pacifist advocacy .. this animation short is going to turn off most Americans. Note that Germany also has a post WWII Anti War Constitutional provision. Germany has always faced up to its WWII legacy including the Holocaust - the German public educational method is more emotional and visceral confrontational educational paradigm than the Japanese public educational method. There is no reason to assume most Americans are against peace or particularly want war. Frankly it is false, and while many share that opinion, it itself was created by propaganda. "America likes going to war." "Americans like guns and want to kill." It's all fear-mongering to push an agenda without any understanding of the people in question.

All republic forms of governance share the same risk of having a wealthy powerful elite seize control of the central government if there is no plebiscite mechanism to overrule an authoritarian ruler. An example of a plebiscite mechanism is a call for no confidence to replace the executive Administrator ... the UK and Israel have this political plebiscite tool. However, plebiscite mechanism needs a open forum for the commoner non ruling elites that is free from big government or big money sourced propaganda and censorship to share and cooperated and form consensus. When economic relationships are framed in an single event adversarial zero sum game manner - players naturally think of more aggressive confrontational tactics. When economic relationships are framed as ongoing sustainable cooperative game frame - players naturally think of more fair and friendly methods to move forward... in traditional mass media .. big money is in control of what is allowed access to the market of ideas... for example, if a plantation slave wanted to speak out against the institution of slavery in the first years of of USA history... ... so it is no wonder that in history an American slave were often quickly silenced so their ideas were censored ... or if a free woman might want to argue for the women's rights ..her voice would never reach the newspapers let alone be allowed to speak in public... This educational anime describes pre war historical markers for World War I and World War II in Europe Asia and the Americas... this is an example, of what Japanese anime does well -- that normally you don't see anywhere else in the entire world... which is why I love Japanese anime soo very much. どうもありがとうございます

Well asides the rantings of idiots who know nothing about Anthropology on this page ranting to defend the US' dumbest decisions of the past 20 years in particular this anime was pretty educational. It's dumbed down so children can understand but it's fairly on point with even modern events and studies even though the book was published at the beginning of the wars in South Asia. They stated 2004 in the video. Studied a lot of history, politics and various modern events in university and they basically stated a lot of this stuff with various modern events to back it. Also Patriotism isn't very smart. Governments do their people wrong all the time and mindlessly defending it is dumb. Of course it's also what made the US look dumb for the previous 4 years with who they elected.The video describes what various modern studies do in a brief explanation for children to understand and explains that they haven't been to war since WWII. Though it almost did with the Philippines in order to take land from the Philippines.

Also while the peanut gallery continue to rant on about China after it they don't realize that China never went into the wars and built up an economy instead of losing it. NA was losing it by supporting the war in particular. China was able to take advantage of North America's globalization on them as well and turned it around to thrive. One thing to note while we do need trade when when money leaves a country it goes to whoever they supported. If Canada or US support refugees as example giving jobs those refugees might send money back home to wherever they come from. Africa we'll give an example. In terms it then supports Africa's economy. This could also be said in terms that globalization was actually paying people pennies for cheap labor but without realizing that it was completely supporting the country it was sent to none the less. In terms if we hired people from our own countries it would most likely go back into our economy. NA also sold off their resources to China which allowed even more support for China's economic growth. In terms recent events of war in South Asia and China's growth has been severely due to NA's own actions these past 20 years.

Seems prescient, much of what they described reminds me of the U.S. The news media is captured by the establishment (which is captured by industry), and since war is a super massive industry, both Republicans and Democrats together go ahead and do things like increase the military budget endlessly like it's no problem, but paying a tiny fraction of that to do something like house the homeless is a problem somehow.

so explain. what are the natural resources japan has to compete on the world market? their massive expansionism during WWII was triggered by the fact that they needed to expand and gain resources to compete with the likes of russia and the us. japan doesn't have the natural reserves to be a self-contained super-power.

In the 1930s, 4 foreign nations had a total control over all of Southeast Asia except Thailand, 5 foreign nations controlled most of Africa. It was easy for the West to starve Japan of resources. Today, all of those countries are free and eager to sell their resources to the one who gives them a better deal. Non-Western partners such as Japan or China get the same terms as the West. And that's one of the sources of their massive economic growth since the war.
Having access to a sufficiently diversified international market may be as good as possessing all natural resources on your own soil.

False, Immediately after WWII Japan and Japan's colony on the Korean pennisula (there was no Korean nation between 1910-1950) were in economic ruin and there was famine so people did starve after WWII from 1945 to 1947. Economic reconstruction in Asia took time; and it is a myth that WWII fighting ended instantly with the Surrender of Japan ... during WWII Korea did not exist.. The Kingdom of Korea was annexed by Japan around 1910... With the withdrawal of the Imperial Japanese Army there was a power vacuum in Korea and both the USA and Russian took over Korea which ended up triggered the Korean War -whereby half of Korea became Communist.
